Dan’s Top 10 Video Games of 2014
Dan's top 10

Dan gives us a rundown of his his top 10 favorite games of 2014 starting with a Kamehameha blast from his childhood.

 10. Dragonball Z: Battle of Z

“Ohhh your new gold tips look smashing Goku!”

The only Vita game in my top 10 (though I do spend a lot of time on Don’t Starve: GE). This game sucked me back into the world of Dragonball.

 9. Destiny

We spent a lot of time just staring at that crazy pretty view.

Destiny’s Beta grabbed me and a few mates, but it dwindled out during the full version. Best played with friends; its MMO qualities (mostly grinding) lost us in the end.

 8. Infamous: Second Son

"Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot!"

“Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot!”

My first PS4 platinum grabbed me once I decided to buy it. Banksy’s style in Delsin Rowe’s graffiti, attitude and split storylines as well as awesome graphics and gameplay, hooked me back into the Infamous world.

 7. Minecraft: Playstation Edition

So this is what Thom Yorke meant.

So this is what Thom Yorke meant.

Because… Minecraft!

 6. Don’t Starve – Reign of Giants

I loved Don’t Starve for its artwork, charm and sadistic like addiction to battling against the wildlife and elements, despite the amount of times you perish. ROG added the extra seasons making it even harder.

 5. Far Cry 4

"It's coming right for us!"

“It’s coming right for us!”

I was a little disappointed in FC4. FC3’s Vaas Montenegro was an awesome villain who didn’t just call you up in a Handsome Jack kinda way to see how many quips he could fail at delivering anywhere as well as the aforementioned. Despite that, if it’s not broke don’t fix it and I still love to play it, even if a Far Cry 3 HD would’ve sufficed.

4. Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Edition

"Can I axe you a question?"

“Can I axe you a question?”

Even though I had a go at Destiny’s grinding MMO characteristic previously, I can happily grind at Diablo 3 without losing interest, probably because of the bigger range of characters!

 3. Middle Earth – Shadow of Mordor

"Quick get me a pen! This man's choking!"

“Quick get me a pen! This man’s choking!”

All the ingredients I love: Tolkein, a levelling system, stealth, huge epic battles versus multiple opponents and a grudge system that made you want to slay any Ulruk that got a death blow on you.

  2. Grand Theft Auto 5 (PS4)

Walking away from explosions is so bad-ass

Re-releasing GTA5 on the next platform without just HDing it, made it even more fun and challenging. I could go on about 1st person and higher multiplayer allowance but I’d be preaching to the choir.

 1. Dragon Age Inquisition

Dragon Age inquisition

John confronted Steve about his spinach abuse.

With a “choose your own style” of gameplay and medieval theme that gradually introduces a huge lore and history that goes above and beyond the normal game experience (apart from maybe Elder Scrolls) this game still has me hooked. This should be my third platinum, soon!

So that’s Dan’s list of the games he got all jazzed about in 2014. Which of them did you play? Let us know or just have your say in the comments below!
